I haven't really taken Easter seriously for the last few years. We go to church on Easter and come home we a renewed sense of gratitude for the Savior's sacrifice for us! It has always been one of the more difficult holidays for David to comprehend. So, this year we decided to prep him for the Easter holiday. We wanted to teach the meaning of Easter and celebrate it with him.
First, we ordered Easter books from Scholastic Books. We are reading Easter books each night and before every nap. The only downside to that, we now have a very anxious boy on our hands. He can't wait for Easter to come. Every night before bed he asks when the Easter Bunny is coming. We have even taken the Christmas song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and turned it into our own version of "Easter Bunny is Coming to Town." I sing to him that he better not cry and he better not shout because the Easter Bunny is coming to town. The only solution to the problem, that I could think of, is to help him make a count down chain to Easter one week in advance. This chain would allow him to tear off one link every morning and he would be able to SEE how close Easter was and when the Easter Bunny would be coming...and it's working!
